What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda, which translates to “knowledge of life”, is an ancient body of wisdom that works with one’s unique elemental nature to create balance and wholeness. It is a lifestyle practice that can helps us heal ourselves through conscious living. The goal of Ayurveda is to both promote longevity by “adding years to life and life to years”. Although Ayurveda has existed for centuries, it’s tools are still both relevant and accessible today!

Ayurveda teaches us that health and wellbeing can be achieved through balancing ourselves with the rhythms of nature. It informs us of our unique elemental make-up, as well as the specific diet and lifestyle we can follow to stay balanced. With this highly individualized practice, we can better understand our illnesses and ailments, learn how to prevent them, and treat them naturally.

Earth. Water. Fire. Air. Space. Ayurveda acknowledges that each and every one of us has our own unique combination of those elements. We call that our constitution, or prakriti. Our environment and the foods we eat are made up of those same elements too. This intermingling disco of elements in combination with poor lifestyle choices is exactly how imbalance is created. To put it simply, what is going on outside the body is reflected in our bodies and minds to some degree.

INTAKE CONSULTATION

75 Minutes
In this meeting, we’ll chat about your health history and your daily routine. I’ll determine your prakriti (constitution) and we’ll identify the imbalances that you are struggling with. During our session, I’ll give you a few immediate tips that you can incorporate into your routine right away.

After your initial consultation, you’ll receive your PERSONALIZED WELLNESS PLAN. Your plan will include things like:

  • Personalized recommendations to implement into your daily routine that will encourage self-care and pacify your imbalance(s)
  • Food and lifestyle recommendations – what’s hot and what’s not for your constitution
  • Dietary tips to bellow your digestive fire and support your ability to assimilate nutrients
  • Yoga postures and breathing exercises that you can practice at home to promote balance, healing, and restful sleep.
FOLLOW UP SESSIONS

45 minutes (4-6 weeks after intake)
Follow up sessions are recommended for continued collaboration on fine tuning your wellness plan. Ayurveda isn’t a quick fix program. What’s working for you? What’s been difficult to change or let go of? In these sessions, we can dive deeper into your healing process and work together to develop the habits needed for long term well-being.

WELLNESS COACHING

In this three month program, you will receive my continued support on your journey to balance. Ayurveda’s tools can be used for the rest of your life. My goal is to guide you in your quest to understanding your own unique state of balance so that you have the framework to continually make the best choices for yourself. 

In working together, we’ll explore what it looks like to build a healing diet through the seasons by integrating Ayurvedic wisdom into your daily nourishment and self-care practice. We’ll also explore how to use the tools of yoga, meditation and mindfulness to improve overall well being.

  • 6 private coaching sessions (two 60 minute sessions per month)
  • Your personalized approach to balance
  • Seasonal meal plans, recipes, and shopping lists based on your unique constitution, set of imbalances, and state of digestion
  • Guided meditations, personalized dosha-balancing yoga and pranayama, nourishing self-care practice guides
  • Unlimited email support between sessions
DOSHA BALANCING

60 minutes (intake required)
Supplement your journey back to balance with a one-on-one guided practice. This is a customized private yoga session to further address your imbalance(s). Includes a brief meditation, breathwork, asana (physical movement), and yoga nidra (deep relaxation practice).
